Loss of a Friend

It is with great sadness that we heard that Maurice Pepper passed away on 10th November. In recent years Maurice has been President of Buckden Tennis Club, but was better known by everyone as a player and long serving Secretary of the club.  When not playing, Maurice was regularly seen attending club home matches greeting visiting teams and ensuring everything was going smoothly.  To many, Maurice simply was Mr. Buckden Tennis Club.  A long standing supporter of local tennis in both the Cambridge and Hunts & Peterbourgh leagues, his passing is a great loss to us all.  Huntingdon & Peterborough Tennis has lost a great friend.

Maurice's family are holding a quiet family only funeral and we respect this request.  Our sincere condolences to Audrey, Jeremy and his family.

2011 Don Brace Cup

Huntingdon retained the Don Brace Cup, with a  close fought 5 - 3 win over Needingworth on Sunday 2nd October.  The mixed matches proved to be the deciding factor, as Huntingdon won the men's doubles 2 sets to 0 only to see Needingworth's ladies match this score in the ladies doubles.

In the Plate competition, a repeat of last season's final saw Stamford win 8 - 0 against City of Peterborough, one set better than last season's result.

2010 Annual General Meeting

The Association AGM took place on Thursday 25th November at Huntingdon Tennis Club.  A disappointing turn out saw only ten clubs represented with a number failing to attend to collect their trophies.  Don Brace attended the meeting and was asked to present the trophies to winners at the end of the meeting.

2010 Don Brace Cup

The Don Brace Cup and Plate competitions were held at Huntingdon Tennis Club on Suday 3rd October.  The Don Brace Cup final saw Huntingdon defeat Deeping 8 - 0, with the result not presenting a true reflection of a tough fought match between the two teams.  In the Plate, Stamford defeated City of Peterborough, again in a hard fought competition.

On-Line Fixture Recording Service

Following last season's successful trial, the on-line fixture recording service will be continued in 2010.  This will save clubs having to post the match card in following each game.  However, match result cards must be completed as normal following the conclusion of the match and be signed by both captains.  Scorecards must be kept until the end of the season in case of dispute.
